Eve's Suggestions
"You shall not surely die" said the serpent = the biggest lie ever told.
Gen 3:1 Now the serpent was more cunning than any beast of the field which Jehovah God had made. And he said to the woman, Is it so that God has said, You shall not eat of every tree of the garden?
You shall not eat of every tree of the garden? - The serpent caused Eve to question what God said when he said "Is it so that God has said".
Eve did not simply say "Yes" to the question because it was not exactly as God had spoken it, so she quoted the exact words God used - she quoted scripture.
Gen 3:2 And the woman said to the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden.
Gen 3:3 But of the fruit of the tree which is in the middle of the garden, God has said, You shall not eat of it, neither shall you touch it, lest you die.
Eve responded to the devil by quoting the word of God correctly and in context. However, why was this was not enough to keep her from being deceived? Why did the serpent not flee? Why was the devil not cast-out?
Jas 4:7 Subject yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
1Co 4:20 For the kingdom of God is not in word, but in power. *Gods word goes forth in power*
Gen 3:4 And the serpent said to the woman, You shall not surely die,
The serpent quoted Gods word out of context and used the truth to deceive (making the truth become a lie). We know that God did say "you shall surely die."
Gen 2:17 but you shall not eat of the tree of knowledge of good and evil. For in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die.
The scriptures do not tell us if God elaborated to Adam and Eve that their bodies would grow old before dying, or whether Adam and Eve were left to their own imagination of instantly dropping dead if they looked at the tree in the middle of the garden, who knows? Maybe it was not relevant to have that understanding before The Fall.
"you shall not surely die," - in other words, you will not drop-dead straight away. Suggesting God was the deceiver
The serpent made the truth become a lie by suggesting to Eve that Gods word meant something else. This was the first legalistic use of the word of God - creating religious law.
Gen 3:5 for God knows that in the day you eat of it, then your eyes shall be opened, and you shall be as God, knowing good and evil.
The serpent continues to speak to Eve, "you shall not certainly die, God knows, that in the day you eat of it, then your eyes shall be opened," reinforcing the suggestion of God being deceptive by withholding the truth from Adam and Eve
The serpent goes on to say "and you shall be as God, knowing good and evil", building upon the previous suggestion to Eve that she will not drop-dead instantly, plus gain knowledge and be like God............................... Now there's a thought!
What has taken place in this short conversation?
• The serpent SUGGESTS God is the deceiver by contradicting his word - you shall not surely die.
• The serpent SUGGESTS God withheld the truth by saying - in the day ye eat of it, your eyes will be open.
• The serpent SUGGESTS Eve can be like God by saying - you shall be as God, knowing good and evil.
It was after toying (to play, flirt-enjoy) with these suggestions Eve became fully deceived and gave into temptation.
• Eve LOOKED at the tree
• Eve SAW the tree was good for food and pleasing to the eyes and desired for wisdom
• Eve TOUCHED, handled, and ate.
Gen 3:6 And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasing to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make wise, she took of its fruit, and ate. She also gave to her husband with her, and he ate.
It was what the serpent suggested to Eve that caused her to eat, not his actual words. The words of the serpent have no power in themselves.
John 8:44 When he speaks a lie, he speaks of his own, for he is a liar and the father of it. *lies can only deceive, they are not power*
SUGGESTIONS = THOUGHTS
Our minds are open to suggestion all the time. You have heard the saying - the power of suggestion. Hypnosis is an example of how suggestion can effect people.
What we believe and what we think molds our perception toward life. Everything we touch, hear, see and smell is suggesting things to us. How we interpret these suggestions (thoughts) depends on our life experience and our inner-heart condition.
Mat 5:8 Blessed the pure in heart, for they shall see God.
Unless our minds are filtering the serpents constant suggestions through the word of God, they will deceive us.
If we are not on our guard (watchful, aware of, being wise) a suggestion can be perceived as truth. One suggestion can expose us to believe another suggestion and so on. Just like Eve was led through her temptation by the serpent, so he will led us, from one temptation to the next until we are properly deceived.
1Pe 5:8 Be vigilant, watch. Your adversary the devil as a roaring lion walks about seeking whom he may devour.
If we are not letting the word of God bring us into all truth then we are constantly exposing ourselves to the subtle lies of the serpent. Only the word of God can expose his lies.
How much deception are we effected by? Are we standing by the forbidden tree having a conversation with the serpent, while we toy with his suggestions in our mind?
THE FORBITTEN TREE = THE LUSTS OF THIS WORLD
1John 2:16 because all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.
Quoting the word of God is not enough to deter the serpent from making further suggestions to us.
This is where we need the power of God-His Holy Spirit, who has promised to lead and guide us.
John 16:13 However, when He, the Spirit of Truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth. For He shall not speak of Himself, but whatever He hears, He shall speak. And He will announce to you things to come.
1Jn 2:14 I write to you, fathers, because you have known Him who is from the beginning. I have written to you, young men, because you are strong, and the Word of God abides in you, and you have overcome the evil one.
When we receive the word of God into our hearts, (believe God, turn from sin, except Jesus into our heart etc) and walk according to the spirit and not the flesh. Then the serpent, the devil, Satan, cannot come near us. Therefore he cannot speak to us. We will not hear him.
Proverbs 3 v6 - acknowledge Him
Psalms 119 v 105 - He lights the way
2Cointhians 10:5 - captivate thoughts
John 8:32 - truth
Psalms 51:10 - clean heart

The Power of the Tithe
Mar 12:41: And Jesus sat over against the treasury, and beheld how the people cast money into the treasury: and many that were rich cast in much.
Mar 12:42: And there came a certain poor widow, and she threw in two mites, which make a farthing.
Mar 12:43: And he called unto him his disciples, and saith unto them, Verily I say unto you, That this poor widow hath cast more in, than all they which have cast into the treasury
Many people proudly brought their tithe into the sanctuary. A feeling of righteousness sweeps over them as their generosity is acknowledged by those around them.
The poor widow dressed in rags brings her tithe to the sanctuary. She does not smile or lift her head because she is ashamed of her poverty. She brings all the money she has because she loves God and trusts him with her life.
No one notices her because she has no status within the community and brings little wealth to the sanctuary.
Jesus notices her BIG TIME - Her story is recorded in the Gospels.
Jesus takes the shame off the widow and honours her tithe above the others. He says to his disciples that her tithe has more value than all the other tithing put together.
Jesus does not look at our money when we tithe he looks at our heart.
We should not look at our money when we tithe either. We should be looking to Him, the lover of our souls, just as the widow did. Loving Him and trusting Him.
God loves our true tithe because it is a sacrifice.
Hebrews: 11:4: By faith Abel offered to God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain, by which he obtained witness that he was righteous, God testifying of his gifts. And by it he, being dead, yet speaks.
Sacrificial giving ignites our faith and opens the windows of heaven. It causes our life to be full to overflowing, so much so that we cannot receive all of it.
God says in His word to bring ALL the tithes into His storehouse
Mal 3:10 Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the LORD of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it.
To bring ALL the tithes into the storehouse means we ALL need to be tithing correctly. True tithing is sacrificial giving. There are no shortcuts for anyone. From the richest of the rich to the poorest of the poor, the principle is the same.
Tithing correctly is a basic act of love, obedience and service to God.
Philippians: 4:18: But I have all, and abound. I have been filled, having received from Epaphroditus the things which you sent, an odour of a sweet smell, a sacrifice acceptable and well-pleasing to God.
Tithing with the right heart attitude is a powerful weapon that not only opens heavens window of blessing but keeps our desires in check.
Money brings temptation. How we spend our money is important to God because how we spend our money mirrors what is in our heart.
Luke 12:34: For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.
Our hearts are deceitful.
Jeremiah 17:9: The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?
If you are not tithing correctly then you may be falling into many temptations without realising it.
Tithing is about your heart attitude. There is power in tithing correctly. It brings authority to your life and to the vision of your church.
Are you justifying yourself for not tithing correctly by saying things like?
“I don’t believe in tithing”
“I tithe in my own way”
“I tithe to a different ministry”
“I tithe where the Lord leads me”
There is no growth for anyone with that attitude to tithing.
If we are not willing to tithe correctly it is because we don’t want the discipline. Simple!
The power of the tithe brings blessing not only in this life but also in the life to come.
Luke 6:38: Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom.
Mark 10:30: But he shall receive an hundredfold now in this time, houses, and brethren, and sisters, and mothers, and children, and lands, with persecutions; and in the world to come eternal life.
Tithing is not limited to individual blessing it brings blessing to the whole church.
Jesus says that we shall increase in brethren. That means he will add believers to the church. We will increase and not decrease, brothers and sisters in Christ will be added to us and we will be able to fulfil the Great Commission.
Mathew 28:19: Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost.
What born-again Holy Spirit filled church does not have the Great Commission as their vision? How else do we increase in brethren but by going, teaching and baptising?
Heavens open window of blessing brings an increase of believers and will bring the vision of every church to pass.
If you believe your church is to fulfil the Great Commission then attach your heart to it. Pray for the vision, write the vision, become part of the vision, look for something to do within the vision, nurture the vision and TITHE CORRECTLY TO THE VISION.
Mal 3:10 Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the LORD of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it.
The vision of your church needs the tithe of your church. Tithing alone does not bring the vision to pass but it won’t happen without it.
Mathew 18:20: For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.
True tithing brings a flood of blessing to you, your family, your church, your community, your city, your country and the world so much so that there will not be enough room to receive it.
Such is the Power of the Tithe.

Write the Vision
Some of the visions I have had during times of personal and corporate worship.
Habakkuk 2v2: And the LORD answered me, and said, write the vision, and make it plain upon tables, that he may run that readeth it.
The vision usually comes while my heart is worshipping God with song and music. I become aware of what my eyes see even though they are closed. As I look, the vision it-self becomes clearer and the vision draws me to the one I seek. Jesus.
Sometimes the outline of Jesus figure is surrounded by light and He is standing a small distance away. Sometimes His arms open. Sometimes they are by His side.
Sometimes I see Jesus feet. They are close-up and bronze, perfect, pure and holy. He is standing and wears no sandals. This is a place of stillness to me. Sometimes I am sitting there beside Him, and sometimes I am bowed down in front of His feet worshipping Him, loving Him.
Revelation 1:15: And his feet like unto fine brass, as if they burned in a furnace; and his voice as the sound of many waters.
Sometimes I am in the throne room. I cannot see clearly but I know it is the throne room and I see a cloud of glory and it emanates God the Father.
Sometimes I see Jesus dressed for battle in standing in His chariot with white horses moving full speed. He is high-up in the heavens. He is The Mighty Warrior, The Commander and Chief. He is followed by the heavenly hosts; His hair is billowing and his garments flapping in the surrounding winds. He is coming; He is coming to bring His justice to the earth and His judgement is just
Mathew 24:30: And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.
When I see this vision my worldly troubles melt and I am strengthened in my heart and mind. I have a burning desire to worship Him more and I am reminded that no eye has seen no ear has heard and no mind can percieve what the Lord has in store for those who love Him.
1Corinthians 2:9: But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.
Sometimes the vision is personal. Once he showed me a path. I was standing beside the path. I saw The LORD walking along the path I could see the back of His heals and the soles of His feet as He walked.
As I watched it struck me there was no dust on the path or dirt on His feet and I became afraid. I knew he was inviting me onto this path but I was afraid. So I prayed and asked Him to help me get on the path.
This was the end of the vision but the next day I realised it was the path of holiness and I was afraid because of my sin. So again I prayed and asked the LORD to help me.
1Peter 1:16: Because is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.
One powerful vision I had was when I saw the LORD dance. The first time this happened it took me by surprise.
We were worshipping in an empty hall in an old camping ground where a few of us were living at the time. In the evening when the children were settled we would go down to this hall and turn on the amplifiers and instruments and worship till we had sung all the songs we knew. On occasion we went till dawn.
On this particular night two of us remained in the hall and during the worship I saw the LORD standing in the hall, waiting. Then with a gracious swooping movement as though he was picking something up from the ground, He turned His head and looked directly at me. It was at this point I realised He had begun to dance and I saw joy in his eyes, I saw THE JOY OF THE LORD.
Mat 25:21: enter thou into the joy of thy Lord.
He began leaping graciously with powerful movements, full of majesty and splendour and beauty. The swirl of His garment was awe-striking. Swirling and twisting with amazing elegance as He leapt with perfect movement around the hall.
My eyes were on His garment and it began growing in size and greatness and in the movement of swirls and twirls until the edges of it were touching all the walls at once, including the ceiling and floor. This scripture came to me - His train fills the temple. And then the scripture - His glory fills the earth.
Isaiah 6:1: In the year that king Uzziah died I saw also the Lord sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up, and his train filled the temple.
“Oh gracious God you dance like no other, you are full of splendour and your beauty none can compare”. Amen.
I do not know how long this went on for but the LORD opened the eyes of my understanding and He said “believe what your eyes see”.
The vision ended and I started laughing and could not stop smiling and I went and woke my friend and told her what had happened.
She had to believe me because I would not shut-up. :)
My interpretation of what the LORD had spoken to me is this.
In my heart I was to believe the vision, I was to believe that I saw the LORD dancing and it was real. I was not just looking through a picture book. I was to believe all the visions he had shown me and the visions to come.
Afterward I remembered the song “Lord of the Dance”. I only knew the chorus but I understood the power of the words for the first time. There is a Lord of the dance - JESUS IS THE LORD OF THE DANCE.
Does the person who wrote this song know how prophetic it is? Sydney Carter 1963
The most mind blowing piece of revelation was realising how much He loves to hear us worship Him. How precious our worship is to Him. As His people worship Him, it’s not only us He fills with joy; he becomes filled with joy Himself.
Zephaniah 3:17: The LORD thy God in the midst of thee is mighty; he will save, he will rejoice over thee with joy; he will rest in his love, he will joy over thee with singing.
When we begin to worship Him it is not a religious event. It’s not a few happy-clappy songs and let’s all sit-down and have another cup of tea.
God joins in as we worship Him He comes and fills His temple, we are His temple. It’s an expression of love from us to Him and from Him to us.
You should come away from your worship time saying that was amazing - not the music, not the worship leader - but the presence of God was amazing i.e. the anointing was powerful, remember it’s the anointing that breaks every yoke, the anointing is the power of God.
Isa 10:27: And it shall come to pass in that day, that his burden shall be taken away from off thy shoulder, and his yoke from off thy neck, and the yoke shall be destroyed because of the anointing.
When we come away from God’s presence after worship (yet we are always in His presence). We are strengthened in spirit. Our love for Him deepens. Our faith grows. We become more like Him. He becomes our desire.

Returning
Hos 2:14: Therefore, behold, I will lure her and bring her into the wilderness, and speak comfortably to her.
Hos 2:15: And I will give her vineyards to her from there, and the valley of Achor for a door of hope. And she shall sing there, as in the days of her youth, and as in the day when she came up out of the land of Egypt.
I want to share my mountain top and valley experiences with you to encourage you that there is nothing more beautiful, more amazing and more awe-inspiring than sitting at the feet of Jesus in any situation, in any circumstance.
Life is painful there is no way around it. Many of us when we are honest live with regrets, shame, confusion, uncertainty and sorrow.
Some of us have that much condemnation and judgement thrown at us that we just get plain tired of the battle. Some of us throw that much condemnation and judgement at others that we get tired of the battle. For some life is full of milk and honey.
God promised us the land of milk and honey.
Being born again, knowing the love of God, being forgiven of our sins, being washed in the blood of Jesus and knowing we are going to live with him forever is the land of milk and honey. It does not get any better than this.
However when we look at our circumstances and feel the pain of life this vision of eternal life, everlasting joy and the cleansing of the blood of the lamb can vanish from sight.
“LORD, help us to see the vision, help us to see YOU. Remind us once again to put our hope in you, to believe your words, to trust in you with all our heart. May we worship you every day and take refuge you alone” amen
When you have not looked up toward God for a long time your neck becomes stiff and it takes determination to overcome the discomfort of stretching it again of working the lazy muscles so they can strengthen.
Our muscles are prayer, worship and reading our bibles. These are the needful things in our daily walk.
Prayer, worship and reading are the things not to neglect and out of this your strength will be renewed. You will rise up on wings as eagles, you will run and not grow weary, and you will walk and not faint.
Life will become new again and your hope will increase, the things of this world will fade and the Joy of the LORD will be your strength.
I write this to encourage myself more than anyone as I clear the path in front of me from the overgrown weeds. A path for too long has been unused.
A path that remained faithfully available to me that I neglected. A path that will lead me once again to unspeakable joy.
Hos 2:14: Therefore, behold, I will lure her and bring her into the wilderness, and speak comfortably to her.
